Statement on planned activities in the honor of Comrade Edna Molewa

28 September 2018

The African National Congress will  be joining thousands of South Africans as the nation celebrates the life of Cde Edna Molewa and mourn her passing.

The ANC welcomes the decision of the President of the Republic of South Africa to declare hers as a state funeral, which recognizes her distinguished role in government and for serving the people of South Africa with loyalty and selflessness.

The outpouring of condolences and grief displayed by communities and formations throughout the length and breadth of South Africa, attest to the critical role Comrade Edna played under the banner of the ANC. As the champion of our liberation and national reconstruction.  We will always remember the crucial role she played as we sought to build a new and caring society out of the ruins of our ugly past.

We would like to thank all South Africans who have extended a hand of support to the family during these difficult times.

The ANC will ensure a fitting send off for our Comrade.
